INDA RAI DA RABO
Just at the moment Ishmah finished stepping out, she caught sight of him sitting with his phone propped up in front of him. He was reciting some deeply loyal and heartfelt verses that pierced her heart and left her body cold. Softly, she walked toward where he sat facing her, but he didn't notice her at all because his heart was broken and his eyes were flooded with tears.
She let out a gentle breath and closed her eyes, savoring the softness and sweet melody of his voice that filled her ears. Quietly, she sat on the chair facing his just as he repeated the exact verse he had spoken at the very beginning: “With my father, I boast.” Then he closed his eyes, causing his tears to spill over, and softly moved his lips to continue reciting the verses: “My position as his lawful son is my decoration, in this worldly life.” Then he bit his lower lip hard, his voice trembling as he continued: “My father, you are the actual reason for my coming into this world.” By now, the trembling in his voice had intensified to the point where he could no longer continue reciting the verses, and soft, suppressed sobs broke out from him.
Then he quickly raised his eyes and looked at Ishmah, who had also burst into tears out of deep sympathy for him. He forced a brave, heroic smile and reached out his hand to pick up the phone. At that exact moment, Ishmah also reached out her hand to take the phone, causing it to fall. She quickly bent down to pick it up, and in the process of grabbing it, her finger accidentally triggered a video to send out into the world of TikTok.
Right at that moment, Dr. Abbas’s call came in again. She picked up the call before handing the phone to him, her voice trembling as she said: “It’s Dr. Abbas, he has been calling for a while.” Slowly, he leaned a bit forward. Thinking he was going to take the phone, she instead saw him reach his hand out to her cheek, gently wiping away her tears with soft and tender words: “Please bear it and forgive me. I keep becoming the reason your tears fall. I failed to keep the promise I made to my father to keep you from shedding tears; I must seek his forgiveness for failing to keep the promise of making you happy.” He finished speaking while cupping her face in his palms. Gently, she placed her own palms over his hands that cradled her face, her voice filled with deep affection as she replied: “You haven’t failed, Yah Sheykh, because you lack nothing in my eyes. I am the one who failed to become the one who wipes away your tears. I am the one who failed to make you happy, failed to make you forget the worries in your heart, and failed to become a righteous wife (mar'atussaliha).” She finished speaking, closing her eyes as she felt the movement of his fingers rubbing across her cheeks. As for Taj, he closed his eyes tightly, feeling the term mar'atussaliha that she called him sprinkle coolness like soothing rain upon his heart.
Another incoming call from Dr. Abbas caused her to slightly pull her face away as she said: “Oh dear, answer him, he’s been calling for a while.” He nodded at her, answered the call, put the phone to his ear, and said: “Wa alaikassalam, have you arrived?” Frustratedly, Dr. Abbas replied: “I don’t know.” He gave a small, brief smile and said: “Dr. Amdaz and Bilal have been at the airport since right after Juma’ah prayer.” With a frown, Dr. Abbas retorted: “I know better than you, since they picked me up, brought me right to Addawa’s parlor, and I even ate food. Should I have stayed and dried up there instead?” He adjusted his seating slightly and said: “Welcome safely.”
Quickly, Dr. Abbas said: “Look, don't hang up on me, come downstairs, I'm waiting for you. Dr. Farida wants to reach her accommodation.” In surprise, he asked: “Wait, is she really here?” “Just come down and you’ll see for yourself,” Dr. Abbas said. Frowning slightly, he said: “No, don’t let her wait. Dr. Amdaz will give Bilal the key to take her, and you and Dr. Amdaz wait for me.” Right after saying that, he disconnected the call.
Gently, Dr. Farida stood up after Dr. Abbas told her how the conversation went. Quickly, Addawa said: “Let some food be brought for you to take along.” She gave a polite, forced smile and said: “No, just leave it. If I get hungry, I’ll come back here for dinner, and if I’m not hungry, I’ll come for breakfast in the morning.” With a smile, Addawa said: “Alright, rest up from the journey.” From there, Bilal picked her up and they left.
Between her house and Taj's, there are roughly eight houses. They are two-bedroom apartments with a big parlor, dining area, kitchen, and a small store. Most of the doctors' houses are built like this, though some have three bedrooms.
As they entered the parlor, Dr. Abbas smiled and looked at Ishmah, who was wearing a Dubai Abaya in an onion color. He nodded in appreciation, gave Taj a quick hug, and said: “Masha Allah, you know how to choose. May Allah grant you a peaceful marriage filled with goodness.” Taj playfully tapped the back of Dr. Abbas’s head and said: “Amin ya Allah.” Then he released him and hugged Dr. Amdaz.
Addawa smiled upon hearing Dr. Abbas say to Ishmah: “You are a lucky girl—or rather, the king of luck. You got a husband that women all over the world compete for all at once. You are truly blessed with a noble husband, even though you took our colleagues by surprise.” With a calm and graceful smile, she replied: “He struck them all with a single blow as well.” Laughing, Dr. Amdaz said: “Even back in school, he always achieved everything in a single strike, acquiring in one go what others spent years striving for without success. Whenever he wants something, he never fails to get it.” As they sat down, Taj glanced at Laylah, who quickly stood up and followed Ishmah as she headed toward her room.
Addawa and Zulaihat headed to the kitchen.
The Next Day (Saturday)
Mexico Arfah was lying on the bed holding his phone. Taj’s video of the verses about his father had been sent to their family WhatsApp group. He played the video over six times, tears streaming down his face. Imran, sitting beside him, looked at him with a subdued voice and said: “Today I’ve been calling Uncle Taj again, but he’s not picking up.” In a very low voice, Arfah said: “Imran, look at how Uncle Taj is crying. What kind of heart does Malam have in his chest? Wallahi, I sent him this video, let him do whatever he wants to me. Do they want grief to kill Uncle Taj? Why are they all so heartless?” Quickly, Imran asked: “What did Malam say? Did he see the video?” Sitting up, Arfah answered: “Yes, he saw it. He didn't say anything to me. In the group, people just sent crying emojis; nobody said a single word.” Gently, Imran said: “Arfah, how could they say anything? Their own father said that anyone who maintains a relationship with Uncle Taj or mentions his name is cut off from his forgiveness.” He finished speaking while trying to call Taj again.
Qatar He was sitting on a prayer mat with all his attention focused on his laptop, apparently working on something very important. As for Ishmah, she was lying on the two-seater sofa right behind him. Slowly, she opened her eyes and fixed them on his laptop, then looked at his phone. “It’s Imran calling, pick up. He calls every single day,” she said in a sleepy voice. He shook his head sideways to signal no, but then he answered the call, handed the phone to her, and spoke softly: “Tell him I sent them money, and if there's anything they need, they don't need to call me.” Hearing Imran’s voice saying: “Hello Uncle Taj, please forgive us, we cannot distance ourselves from you.” Hearing this, Arfah quickly grabbed the phone and said: “Uncle Taj, you know we have only two months left before our school break, and we aren't going to Ethiopia. Are you coming?” They quickly looked at each other upon hearing Ishmah’s voice speaking with care and familiarity: “So sorry Imran, Arfah. Uncle Taj stepped out and left his phone at home, but when he comes back he will call you.” Quickly, Imran asked: “Afwan, who are you?” A soft breath escaped Taj’s lips when he heard her say: “Aysha Abdullahi Matawalle, Aunty Ishmah. Mrs. Uncle Taj.” They looked at each other again in quick succession, and then Imran said: “Ayyah, Aunty Ishmah, really? Are you Uncle Taj's wife? When did you get married? Where are you right now?” Wishing to dispel any doubt, she answered: “Wallahi, I am his lawfully wedded wife according to the Sunnah. Our wedding was held two weeks ago in Adamawa, Nigeria, and right now we are in Doha, Qatar.”
Quickly and with full conviction in Ishmah’s words, Imran said: “Alright, My Aunty, I believe you. But Uncle Taj is close by, right?” Softly, she said: “Yes.” She said this because Taj had gestured to her to say yes. Quickly, Arfah chimed in: “My Aunty, tell him to forgive us and answer our calls. He is important in our lives, and we don't care about Malam's threats because we are not his direct children, we are his grandchildren. He can exercise his power over his own children, but not over us grandchildren.” Ishmah bowed her head slightly to catch what else he was saying. “Tell them to be patient, everything has its time, and they shouldn't keep calling me directly. Give them your number so they can call you, or Addawa, if they want to hear news of us. And if there is anything they need, they should tell you so you can pass it to me. Tell them not to worry, I am doing well—myself, my wife, Laylah, Addawa, and Zulaihat.” Almost simultaneously, Imran and Arfah hugged each other upon hearing everything he said. Alhamdulillah, now they were even more convinced that Ishmah was his wife, and they heard that he was in Qatar along with Addawa, Laylah, and Zulaihat. They felt a profound relief knowing he had loved ones around him. Happily, they spoke in unison: “Yess Uncle Taj! We heard your voice, and we will do as you said. We will be calling our Aunty, and when we get our break, we will come to Qatar.” Ishmah smiled, seeing that Taj had relaxed his face, forgetting they could still hear him since she had brought the phone close. With a cheerful face, she said: “Uncle says you shouldn't come.” Quickly, Arfah protested: “Our Aunty, we are coming to visit you and Addawa, not him!” Then Imran quickly added: “Yes, Our Aunty, please give us the number, and please take good care of Uncle Taj for us.” Smiling, she gave them the number of the new SIM card he had gotten for her in Qatar, and after that, they exchanged goodbyes.
He let out a breath and continued with what he was doing. Softly, she said: “I see you’re writing a resignation letter to Ethiopian Airlines?” Closing his eyes slightly, he said: “Yes.” Quickly, she asked: “Then why? Taj, being a pilot was your dream! How can you just quit the job!” He turned his head slightly to look at her, then said softly: “I’m not quitting altogether, I’m just leaving Ethiopian Airlines to return to Qatar Airways, because they’ve already offered me a pilot position.” He let out a gentle breath and asked: “Does that sound okay to you?” Sitting up, she said: “Yes, I pray Allah grants success.” She finished speaking and sat right in front of him. As for him, he said “Amin” while looking at her attentively, realizing from her posture that she wanted to talk.
Softly, she stated: “Actually, I want us to go to Al-Ahli Afisha with Laylah, to investigate her health regarding the alleged rape and the issue of the pregnancy, if you grant me permission.” From the moment she started speaking, he kept his head down. Only when she finished did he slowly move his lips and say: “What further investigation is needed when she herself confirmed to you what was done to her, and the doctors confirmed that she is carrying a pregnancy? Ma'eeshah, what is left to investigate?” Quickly, she shook her head with absolute conviction and truth: “I refuse to believe you raped Laylah, and I will never believe it. I’m only worried that someone else might have actually violated her, which is why I want to be certain. And as for the issue of the pregnancy, that is my biggest concern; we need to verify the truth of the matter.” Slowly, he adjusted his posture, leaned his head against the back of the sofa, and said quietly: “Ma'eesha, I am terrified that the doctors’ findings might confirm that she is pregnant. If it turns out that Laylah was indeed violated, my heart will stop. With what excuse will I defend myself before the Almighty regarding the trust of her care that I took upon myself and the promise to protect her orphanhood?” With bold confidence, she answered: “In sha Allah, we will hear good news. Alhamdulillah, even now my certainty has only grown that you did nothing to Laylah. It was merely a web woven around you, while her mind and youth made her believe it was you. Tell Dr. Amdaz and Dr. Abbas to prepare for the procedure, and Dr. Sahra as well; let them all prepare.” He nodded, feeling a lingering hesitation as such a thought had never crossed his mind. “Please, call Dr. Abbas and Amdaz and tell them right now, don't forget!” Gently, he called Dr. Abbas and explained a summary to him, since Abbas already knew everything through Yah Aryan. Fully convinced by Ishmah’s advice, Dr. Abbas called the rest and explained the plan to them.
The Next Day (Sunday)

Summary
The excerpt follows Taj (a disgraced pilot falsely accused of rape) and his newlywed wife, Ishmah, as they rebuild their lives in Doha, Qatar, alongside their loved ones including Addawa, Laylah, and Zulaihat. Taj experiences deep emotional pain over estrangement from his family (accentuated by a viral video of him weeping over his father), but finds solace and unconditional support in Ishmah.
When Taj’s young relatives (Imran and Arfah) call desperately, Ishmah graciously speaks with them, reassures them of Taj’s well-being, and shares contact details, easing their worries. Meanwhile, determined to clear Taj's name entirely of the false rape allegations and investigate Laylah's actual medical condition (including her pregnancy), Ishmah convinces a hesitant Taj to schedule an independent medical evaluation at Al-Ahli Afisha Hospital. The chapter ends as Taj, Ishmah, Bilal, and Laylah arrive at the luxurious hospital to meet with supportive medical colleagues like Dr. Abbas, Dr. Amdaz, and Dr. Farida.

Conclusions
This chapter marks a critical turning point in the narrative. Rather than cowering under the weight of false accusations and family rejection, Taj—bolstered by Ishmah’s absolute faith and the unwavering loyalty of his colleagues—takes proactive steps toward the truth. By heading to Al-Ahli Afisha Hospital to investigate Laylah’s condition scientifically, the story sets the stage for the ultimate exoneration of Taj and the unmasking of the real truth behind the conspiracy against him.
Key Takeaway: True partnership means standing by your loved one not only in comfort, but actively helping them fight to restore their honor when the world turns against them.
